Setting up the integration

1Generate your Tellent HR API key

First, you'll need to create an API key in your Tellent HR account:

  1. Log in to your Tellent HR account at https://app.tellent.com/
  2. Navigate to Settings (click Tellent logo in the top-left corner)
  3. Go to Integrations β†’ API Keys
  4. Click Generate API Key
  5. Copy the generated API key and store it securely

⚠️ Important: Keep your API key secret! It provides full access to your company's HR data. Never share it publicly or commit it to version control systems.

2Connect HRwise to Tellent HR

Now you'll configure the integration in HRwise:

  1. Log in to your HRwise account
  2. Navigate to Settings β†’ Integrations
  3. Find Tellent HR in the list of available integrations
  4. Click Connect
  5. Paste your Tellent HR API key when prompted
  6. Click Connect
  7. After successful connection, click Sync to sync your data with Hrwise

What data is synced?

HRwise syncs the following data from Tellent HR:

From HRwise β†’ Tellent HR

Currently, this is a one-way sync (Tellent β†’ HRwise only). HRwise does not write data back to Tellent HR. Your Tellent HR system remains the source of truth for core employee information.

Data Storage: All synced data is encrypted at rest in HRwise. Employee personal information (email, phone, names) uses field-level encryption for additional security.

Understanding Project Sync

Project assignments in Tellent HR work differently from typical HRIS systems:

How it works: Tellent HR doesn't have a direct "employee assigned to project" relationship. Instead, HRwise discovers project assignments by analyzing timesheet entries from the last 12 months. If an employee has logged time to a project in their timesheets, HRwise creates an on-the-job training record for that employee-project pair.

Troubleshooting

Sync fails with "Authentication Error"

Your API key may have expired or been regenerated. Go back to Tellent HR, generate a new API key, and update it in HRwise integration settings.

Some employees aren't syncing

Check that the employees are marked as "Active" in Tellent HR. HRwise only syncs active employees by default.

Projects not showing up in HRwise

Remember that projects are discovered via timesheet entries. If employees haven't logged time to a project in the last 12 months, it won't sync. Ask employees to log their project work in Tellent HR timesheets.
